The BTEC suite of qualifications are available from entry level to level 7, they are highly regarded and recognised by employers and higher education institutes all over the world.
Pearson BTEC Higher Certificates and Diplomas are designed to provide a specialist vocational programme that offer a strong sector- related emphasis on practical skills development alongside the development of requisite knowledge and understanding.
The qualifications provide a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in their related sector and allow for direct progression to employment or progression to higher education.
The HNC is a level 4 qualification delivered over 1 year. The HNC is an embedded component of the HND, however, it can be taken as a stand- alone qualification. If a student opts to take the HNC they would be eligible to gain a National Certificate after successful completion of a minimum of 8 modules.
The HND is a level 5 qualification delivered over 2 years, the first year at level 4 and the second year at level 5. If a student opts to take the HND they would be eligible to gain a Higher National Diploma after successful completion of a minimum of 15 modules.
The Pearson BTEC HND in Business is 240-credit qualification that consist of eight mandatory units and eight specialist unites that combined total of 240 credits
HEC Considers HND from (Pearson-UK) as Equivalent to Ordinary Bachelor’s degree involving 14-year of schooling in relevant discipline from Pakistan for purpose of job and higher education.
Progress is measured throughout the course. Evidence that is based on real-life work and studies is presented by the student in each module. There are no exams. Each module is internally assessed and graded by qualified Tutors / Assessors and Internal Verifiers. The final assessment is done by an Pearson External Examiner. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit and Distinction.
The calculation of the overall qualification grade is based on the student’s performance in all units. Students are awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction qualification grade using the points gained through all 120 credits, at Level 4 for the HNC or Level 5 for the HND, based on unit achievement. The overall qualification grade is calculated in the same way for the HNC and for the HND. All units in valid combination must have been attempted for each qualification. The conditions of the award and the compensation provisions will apply as outlined above. All 120 credits count in calculating the grade (at each level, as applicable). The overall qualification grade for the HND will be calculated based on student performance in Level 5 units only. Units that have been attempted but not achieved, and subsequently granted compensation, will appear as ‘Unclassified’; i.e. a ‘U’ grade, on the student’s Notification of Performance, which is issued with the student certificate that is
A key progression path for Pearson BTEC HND learners is to the third year of a degree or honours degree programme, at number of UK and international universities depending on the match of the Pearson BTEC Higher National units to the degree programme in question.
The units for this programme focus on how business theory applies in the modern and contemporary workplace. The programme of units aims to offer you the best opportunities for progression, both academically and professionally.
If you do not wish to study a full HNC or HND course you may select one or more modules as a stand–alone option and receive a module accreditation certificate, which will give you a qualification for a subject in your area of interest or to help support your career goals.
The College will need to review the profile of qualifications and/or experience held by applicants, considering whether this profile shows an ability to progress to a higher level qualification.
For learners who wish to enter the HNC or HND programme, the entry profile is likely to include the following:
1. Minimum 18 years of age
2. BTEC or other related level 3 qualification
3. A minimum of 1 A level, grade A* to C
4. A minimum of 2 GCSE subjects, grades A* to C
5. Equivalent overseas qualification.
6. Mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience.
7. English language proficiency to equivalent to at least IELTS 5.0
Once you have successfully completed the HND you can continue on to study the third year of a degree or honours degree at a number of UK and International Universities.
The Pearson BTEC Higher National Qualifications have been developed with career progression in mind. They allow for progression into or within employment in the business sector, either directly on achievement of the award or following further study to a degree.
Assessment of BTEC Higher Nationals is by assignment, typically one or two assignments per module. These assignments will vary and include a mix of formal reports, presentations and practical tasks, but there will be no formal exams.
All modules will be individually graded as ‘pass’, ‘merit’ or ‘distinction’ To achieve a full qualification you must pass all 8 Modules to achieve the higher certificate and all 16 modules to achieve the higher diploma.
